The timeframe in which the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) will finalise a security clearance assessment depends on a range of factors, including:
- the security clearance level
- if the clearance applicant meets eligibility and suitability requirements
- the time taken for the clearance applicant to complete the application
- the time taken for the clearance applicant to provide additional information and/or documentation
- the time taken for referees to complete a referee report
- the time taken to complete personnel security checks
- the availability of the clearance applicant and/or referees to participate in interviews.
Clearance applicants have up to 20 business days to complete the application via myClearance. AGSVA aims to assess the completeness of the application within 10 business days. Once assessed as complete, the assessment timeframe commences.
